INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 6, 2022) — The Indiana Soybean Alliance (ISA) has partnered with the Southern Indiana Sentinel Landscape to help Hoosier landowners apply new conservation practices. The Sentinel Landscape is a new program that connects landowners to financial and technical support for conservation projects.
In addition to ISA, the Sentinel Landscape also partners with the USDA, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and several non-profit organization partners to assist Hoosiers who want to implement conservation practices on their property. The Sentinel Landscape and its partners are working to:
- Protect training and readiness on southern Indiana’s military installations
- Conserve land for agriculture and sustainable forestry
- Improve water quality
- Create and restore wildlife habitat and ecosystems
- Support rural economies
“We are very happy to work with the Southern Indiana Sentinel Landscape to offer financial and technical assistance to landowners who want to adopt new conservation practices,” said ISA Chair Jim Douglas, a farmer from Flat Rock, Ind. “Indiana farmers own thousands and thousands of acres across the state, and we are sensitive to protecting that land for future generations. This program will help southern Indiana’s landscape to remain healthy for many years to come.”
The Sentinel Landscape has planned three events to provide more details about how the program can support Indiana landowners. These events are scheduled for:
- Oct. 18, 6 p.m., in Bloomington, Ind., at American Legion Post 18, 1800 W. Third St.
- Oct. 20, 6 p.m., in Seymour, Ind., at The Pines Evergreen Room, 4120 U.S. 31
- Oct. 25, 6 p.m., in West Boggs, Ind., at Stoll’s Restaurant, 15519 U.S. 231
Food and refreshments will be provided at these meetings. To register for one of these events, go to conservationlawcenter.eventbrite.com or call 812-856-0229.
